Caruana was trained by one of the most experienced chess teachers in the US since the beginning of his career, as his first coach was Bruce Pandolfini.
Fabiano later trained with Boris Zlotnik, Alexander Chernin and Vladimir Chuchelov and in 2007 he became the youngest Grandmaster in the history of both the United States and Italy.
