Detlef Schrempf is a German-American former professional basketball player.
From 1981 to 1985, he competed for the Washington Huskies in collegiate basketball. In the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks selected him with the eighth overall pick, and he joined the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He was a member of the 1995 NBA Third Team All-Stars, a three-time All-Star, and two-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
For 16 seasons, Schrempf competed in the NBA, spending time with the Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, and Indiana Pacers.
With the SuperSonics, he advanced to the NBA Finals in 1996.
He competed in the 1984 and 1992 Summer Olympics, as well as the 1983 and 1985 EuroBasket Championships, for the West German, and later German, national teams.
In 2021, Schrempf was admitted into the FIBA Hall of Fame.
