David Blatt is an Israeli American professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player.
At Princeton University, where he played point guard, Blatt received his degree. He took part in the Maccabiah Games as a member of the USA national squad.
Blatt was a player for the Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Natanya, Hapoel Galil Elyon, Ironi Nahariya, and Maccabi Haifa in addition to the Atlanta Pro-Am League.
In addition to coaching with Benetton Treviso in Russia, Dynamo St. Petersburg, Efes Pilsen, Dynamo Moscow, Aris Thessaloniki, and Maccabi Tel Aviv, Blatt began his coaching career in 1993.
Blatt won a Gold Medal at the 2007 Spain FIBA EuroBasket while serving as the head coach for Russia.
When coaching Russia at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, he also took home a silver medal. Blatt took over as the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers' head coach in 2014.
He has been crowned Russian Super League Coach of the Year and Euroleague Coach of the Year in addition to four Israeli League Coach of the Year accolades, six Israeli Cup Championships, and five Israeli League Championships.
