Billy Donovan is an American college basketball coach and former college and professional basketball player.
Billy Donovan currently serves as the head coach of the Florida Gators men's basketball team at the University of Florida, which has contributed to his wealth.
Since 1996, he has served as the Florida Gators' head coach. In 2006 and 2007, he helped the Gators win back-to-back National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) national championships.
Billy was the starting point guard for the Providence Friars men's basketball team, and he guided the Friars to the 1987 Final Four.
He is one of only four men to have been in the NCAA Final Four as both a player and a coach, and to have led the Friars to a national championship.
He worked as a guard reserve for the New York Knicks for the majority of the 1987–88 season prior to his time at the University of Florida.
Following his retirement from the NBA, he temporarily worked as a stockbroker on Wall Street before becoming Rick Pitino's assistant coach for the Kentucky Wildcats.
