Asbel Kipruto Kiprop is a Kenyan middle-distance runner.
His main and rather the only source of income is a professional career as a runner which brings him great profits.
He is an expert in the 1500 meters. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he won the 1500 m gold medal after Rashid Ramzi, the first-place finisher, tested positive for doping.
In the competition, Kiprop has triumphed three times, in 2011, 2013, and 2015. In November 2017, Kiprop failed his own drug test and was given a four-year doping suspension.
He captured the 1500 m gold medal at the 2007 All-Africa Games, earning his first major victory.
He repeated the feat at the 2010 African Championships in Athletics, winning the competition after finishing third in 2008. His time for the entire distance is 3:26.69.
