William LeGate is an entrepreneur, Thiel Fellow, computer programmer, and activist from the United States.
Thiel Fellowship
LeGate revealed in a 2011 interview that he has always had a penchant for entrepreneurship, having taught himself computer programming through online Stanford classes since the age of 13.
During high school, he developed over a dozen iPhone apps, which were used by one in every twelve American teenagers by the time he graduated.
His early success drew the notice of billionaire PayPal co-founder and investor Peter Thiel, who gave LeGate, then 18 years old, a Thiel Fellowship, a $100,000 (USD) grant granted yearly to about 20 people under the age of 20 who agree to drop out of school to follow an entrepreneurial route.
Imagination Research Labs
After learning to code in Objective C at the age of 14, Legate founded Imagination Research Labs, an iOS app development company.
Ponder
LeGate began developing the Ponder mobile application at the end of his Thiel Fellowship, for which he was named as co-founder and CEO.
Ponder has been labeled the "anti-Kardashian" photo-sharing app by the New York Post and Teen Vogue "There will be no controversy. There will be no trolls, bullying, or negativity here. It's all about the stunning photos and videos."
Sean Rad and Justin Mateen, co-founders of Tinder, both invested in Ponder, and Justin's brother Tyler Mateen was a co-founder of Ponder.
GoodPillow
In February 2021, American political activist David Hogg and Legate stated that they will launch GoodPillow to compete with MyPillow, whose CEO Mike Lindell, an ardent supporter of former President Trump, has circulated unfounded charges of voter fraud.
LeGate came up with the idea for GoodPillow as a Twitter joke. Hogg announced his departure from the organization in April 2021 to pursue his education.
The firm tweeted in June 2021 that "the first Good Pillow" had arrived from the manufacturing. The company pledged to support progressive causes by having their pillows made in Texas by workers who were paid a living wage.
The news that GoodPillow and Pillow-Fight have agreed to merge emerged in April 2022.
